Eurotech recently had the opportunity to demonstrate their years of experience as a certified repair facility, their technical certifications, and commitment to customer service in a rather unique way when a representative of Columbia Motion Pictures contacted Mike requesting emergency assistance with a problem. The classic 1936 Maybach coupe was on loan to Columbia Pictures for the filing of "Memoirs of a Geisha" based on a novel by Arthur Golden. The automobile arrived via plane in Los Angeles and transferred to a truck for transport to San Francisco for filing, in the famed Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park. During transit the straps holding the automobile in place became loose, allowing it to jostle about, and damaged on side of the automobile.

The representative from Columbia Pictures was requesting what seemed to be the impossible, to have the automobile repaired overnight so that filming would stay on schedule. Mike and the Eurotech team took on the challenge and worked diligently all night to perform the repairs to this classic Maybach (photo right of Mike and the team hard at work). With the repairs completed on schedule early the next morning the automobile was ready for delivery to the set.

As you read this article, you may be wondering what a classic Maybach automobile has to do with your Mercedes-Benz.

Well in short, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach are the designers of the first car, which debuted in Paris in 1897. Delivery of the first "Mercedes" went to Emil Jellineck, with a 9-year-old daughter named "Mercedes," in Decmeber of 1900. Karl Benz merges with the company in 1926, forming Daimler-Benz AG, and the trademark we all know today as Mercedes-Benz was born.

In 1936, Daimler-Benz aquired the Maybach Company from Karl Maybach. By 1941, the manufacturing facility is commandeered for the war effort, thus ending the production era for the company. Of the 1,800 Maybach cars produces from 1921 to 1941, it's estimated only 152 remain in the world today. The one featured in this article belongs to a Technical School in Germany and has an estimated value of $1,000,000. Maybach cars are available today with their latest designs now online at www.maybachusa.com.

Mike and the Eurotech team's commitment to being a Mercedes-Benz Certified Repair Facility and belief of exceeding customer service whenever possible are not just words on a page, it is a practicing reality. After all, Eurotech did help maintain the filming schedule involving the Tea Gardens and this classic automobile. At least until that afternoon, when Mike receives another call from the Columbia Pictures representative,

who explains while the automobile was set aside awaiting transport to the next location, a member of the film crew accidentally backed into the automobile, the same side the Eurotech team just completed repairs on, and is in need of Eurotech's services again. Mike and his team pulled together for their second "all-nighter" and again managed to complete the repairs to this beautiful 1936 classic Maybach on schedule and have it ready for the morning filming as promised.

Eurotech's ability to effectively complete the repairs to this automobile within a tight deadline is impressive. Especially when you consider the repairs were completed overnight, to a classic automobile, and not just once but twice, and on both occasions the automobile was ready for delivery the next morning as promised. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service seldom seen today and just one of the many qualities that Mercedes-Benz looks for in a Certified Repair Facility.

"Memoirs of a Geisha" is set for release in the United States on December 9, 2005, and make sure you look for that "hearty thanks" to Mike and the Eurotech team in the credits. Eurotech takes pride in their ability to "do the job right the first time" whether it is overnight on a million dollar automobile or your Mercedes in the garage you want repaired right the first time.
